Why Turkey is a Prime Manufacturing Location for Your Retail Business

When manufacturing goods, be that clothes or single-use PET products such as cutlery or packaging, the best way to boost your profit margin, is to keep production costs as low as possible. There’s plenty of ways to do this, such as making adjustments to use less energy or to change to lesser expensive materials, however, these are small changes that reap little reward. One significant change that can help improve the efficiency and cost of your production is to move your manufacturing hub to the fast-growing economy of Turkey.

A lot of global businesses are already utilizing the benefits of manufacturing in Turkey, with Turkey’s most significant export being textiles and fashion items, making up 18.5% of the total goods exported from Turkey. Clothes retailers such as Zara and ASOS get their suppliers from this country, here are some of the reasons why:

Plentiful Work Force

Turkey’s population is a young one, and it’s growing bigger and bigger by the year, meaning that most locations in the country will have access to a workforce ready to aid in your manufacturing process.

Turkey market analysis also suggests that this labor is also relatively cheap compared to that of more western European alternatives, but this isn’t just because they can be paid less, it’s because the exchange rate and cost of living is very favorable. Turkey is actively trying to reduce its unemployment rate, meaning that the government will be actively helping you succeed by offering staff as well as a few other incentives.

Financial Benefits

Due to the government of Turkey working so hard to attract foreign capital to the country, as this would help boost their economy, even more, they’re offering benefits and incentives, to entice companies from another country in, and they’re more than worth it.

These benefits include a super helpful exemption from various taxes like Custom Duty and VAT, and also offers significant reductions on corporate tax. These tax reliefs can help boost your profit, which can be used to enhance another department of your business.

Transportation Opportunities

Due to its geographical location, Turkey is in a prime place to help you not only get all the parts you need in your production line but also ship out your finished products to as wide of an audience as possible. It has easy connections to the rest of mainland Europe but also the Mediterranean, as well as exciting links to northern Africa and the lucrative Arabian Peninsula, which can accelerate delivery times to all these great markets.

The speed to market is what makes Turkey extremely competitive and a far better option than the traditional far east locations, as clients can make repeat orders on popular items. Orders can be received up to 7 days after it was placed, with packages from China taking at least 41 days to reach a Western Europe location.

Eco-Friendly Manufacturing

Turkey is one of the few countries that makes sure all textile manufacturers comply with internationally accepted standards, suggesting that it’s a reliable and responsible location to manufacture goods safely. It’s also one of the only five countries, that include economic powerhouses such as Germany, Holland, and India, that enforce a ban on dangerous carcinogenic azo dyes. They also comply with the EU’s CE marking standards, making sure that the plastic they produce is non-toxic and safe.
