Outbound Marketing: Tactics To Reach Out To Your Target Customers

“Good marketing makes the company look smart. Great marketing makes the customers feel smart.”
           -Joe Chernov.

Once you have created a loyal customer base, accomplishing company objectives becomes relatively easy. However, creating a loyal customer base is easier said than done. It is because the competition level is relatively high in every industry.

For the success of your company, reaching out to the target customers is not enough. You need to convince them that your product or service is a necessity for them. For that, you need to create an effective marketing mix.

Now the question is, what should you include in your marketing mix?

Typically there are two marketing techniques that are included in an ideal marketing mix, i.e., Inbound and Outbound.

Inbound Marketing

These strategies help in attracting the target customer by creating and distributing useful content organically. The content is generally interactive and is distributed using social media platforms, reports, podcasts, webinars, and blogs.

Needless to say, these marketing strategies are crucial for lead generation and creating brand awareness. In fact, it is also the top forecasted B2C marketing trend for upcoming years. However, to make these strategies more effective, you do require outbound efforts.

 Outbound Marketing

Outbound marketing is just like a traditional form of connecting with the target audience. To put it simply, this includes reaching out proactively to the customers to develop their interest in the product and service. These tactics are often targeted and have evident call-to-action. Plus, they help make the sales funnel process faster and more effective, providing a good and retainable lead.

That being said, let’s learn how outbound marketing can help you reach out to target customers!

  • Content Syndication

Whether inbound or outbound, you need content to fuel your marketing efforts. Moreover, you also need to ensure that the content is consumed by the potential leads. And to make this possible, you need to pay attention to content syndication.

In short, republish your content to other sites or platforms in order to increase reach and drive organic traffic. You can do this through several paid options, such as outreaching websites or newsletters to publish your information. Or unpaid options such as social media, guest blogging, or RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds.

Keep in mind that numerous content syndicators also require you to fill forms that include your contact information such as email, phone number, address, and others. This helps in getting in touch with more qualified leads and promoting your brand.

Note: Content need not be blogging only. Understand that search engines such as Google focus on user experience. That’s the reason why content like infographics, videos, images, etc., can also help you reach out.

  • Direct Mail

Many entrepreneurs and digital marketers are oblivious to the benefits of direct mail. But, according to the statistics, direct mail campaigns help in generating five times larger purchases as compared to email campaigns.

Yes, you read it right!

And if you amalgamate this technique with others, you’ll surely get even better results. That’s why it is one of the most recommended tips for small business owners to follow. Direct mail focuses on targeted communication. It helps in grabbing the attention of the potential customer easily. Moreover, it also allows you to contact a specific location-based audience.

Also, several studies have shown that approximately 75% of people trust businesses using direct mail rather than those using only internet ads.

Not to mention, in this era, the internet is filled with advertisements. Thus, promoting your business using mails will surely leave an impression on the target audience. It will eventually benefit the company either in the form of sales or customer base.

  • PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Advertising

Pay-per-click is one of the common outbound marketing methods that businesses use. It is an easy way to be on the top of SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) and promote your brand to millions of people. In addition to this, it helps in improving the site’s traffic and generating leads.

Nevertheless, you need to use an attractive content piece to create curiosity in the user's mind. This curiosity will ensure that the user clicks on the link and learns more about your brand.

Not only search engines, but you can also use PPC in the form of banner advertisements, social media sponsored posts and social channels such as LinkedIn. It will provide you with high-value returns.

  • Event Marketing

This is another widely used method to create more connections (probably long-lasting) with customers as well as fellow business owners. Events are generally in the form of webinars, trade shows, charities, seminars, conferences, and others.

Whatever the type of event may be, it gives opportunities to the business owners to interact with the audience face to face and create lasting impressions. Plus, if the event is a success, it will become the talk of the town which will further help businesses generate revenue.

  • Inside Sales

Last but not least, the ability to turn your leads into a sales pipeline is very vital for every organization. Mere leads do not guarantee revenues. Taking the same into consideration, you should consider creating an inside sales team.

The sales team will help in turning these leads into sales by regular interaction with customers and addressing their queries. Once the lead is qualified, they work with account executives to close the deal.

Some people even use cold calling to facilitate the sales process. This also ensures that you provide quality customer service, which is obviously a plus for brand image.

Even so, make sure the team members have the experience and knowledge to utilize these leads. Rather than letting them dry up due to neglected follow-ups.

To Sum It All Up!

To help your small business thrive, you must focus on creating a good mix of these marketing techniques. Understand that even in the same industry, the approach and ideology of every business are different. So, you must create a mix that works for you and not merely follows others. Connect with professionals, as they can work with you to help YOUR business grow.
