As we settle into 2019, now is the perfect time to look into new and innovative ways of improving your business. For retailers boasting an online presence as well as brick-and-mortar stores, introducing a click and collect service may be the perfect way to boost sales in the new year.
 
Click and collect services have rocketed in popularity over the past few years. For example, from the years 2011 to 2015 click and collect sales rose by a phenomenal 155% within total online sales.
 
So why are more and more customers gravitating towards click and collect? These services allow customers to enjoy the best aspects of both online and “real-world” shopping experiences. Click and collect provides shoppers with the convenience of purchasing items from home, with the speed and cost-effectiveness of an in-store pickup.
 
But what’s in it for the retailer?

Firstly, click and collect is a great way to tap into the growing customer desire for a seamless omnichannel shopping experience. What’s more, studies have also found that these services can also increase the average order value as 49% of consumers are likely to purchase an extra item when picking up their purchase in-store.
 
So how can you go about building a click and collect service that works? Perhaps the most important thing is to take it slow. Do your research and conduct lots of testing to ensure that any issues are ironed out before roll-out. As such, it’s best practice to launch in one store and work out all the issues before expanding.
