How to Succeed at Amazon Delivery - Top 7 Tips

Delivering packages on a daily basis can seem like a regular, routine job but there are quite a few ways you can make it more interesting. From tips and tricks to increase your efficiency to the best company clothes to wear, there is no one-size-fits-all strategy for becoming successful as an amazon delivery driver.

Amazon is the most popular online marketplace where people buy and sell goods from the comfort of their own homes. If you are interested in working as an amazon delivery driver, there are some steps you can take to ensure your success.

1. Maximize efficiency with one device

Working as an Amazon delivery driver comes with a lot of responsibilities, and often, tons of different things to keep track of all at once. But you need to be able to do this as efficiently as possible in order to maximize your time.

We all use smartphones, so why not use yours to help with your amazon deliveries? With a smartphone, you’re able to track everything in one place, from selecting delivery jobs, to looking up addresses with GPS, to checking fuel prices near you, and more.

Help yourself out and set reminders on your phone, so you never miss a delivery deadline.

2. Have extra boxes handy

While it’s never a good idea to open a package during the delivery process, there are some instances when it’s necessary. If you’ve ever received a package that appears dented, ripped, and ragged, you know the feeling.

As a representative of Amazon, you want the packages you deliver to look the absolute best, so make sure you keep some fresh boxes of various sizes, and Amazon delivery tape handy inside your delivery truck. That way if something ever happens to a package, you’re prepared to replace the damaged box, so your customers are always satisfied.

3. Plan your routes ahead of time

Timeliness and punctuality are what Amazon is famous for. True overnight deliveries, and in some cases, deliveries made within a few hours are what make Amazon the top dog in the world of online shopping.

To help maintain the incredible standard, you need to make sure that you know where you’re going on your delivery routes. Take the time before you start making your deliveries to plan the most time-efficient route. This way you can stay competitive with all the other delivery services out there.

4. Prevent package theft

Package theft is a real thing, and once a package is stolen from a customer’s doorstep, the blame often falls on the delivery driver. Amazon never has trouble replacing a stolen package, but if you want your Amazon delivery service to grow, you need to avoid leaving them unattended.

To help prevent package theft on your delivery routes, make sure you never leave a package unattended. Instead of leaving a customer’s package out in the open or on their doorstep, leave it in a lockbox, or an area that’s only accessible to you (in your delivery truck), or the customer. For example, in their backyard, or inside an enclosed front porch.

5. Make sure you’re covered

Car insurance is important for any person who decides to get behind the wheel of a car, but as a delivery driver, you’re behind the wheel even more. That means your chances of getting in a car accident increase exponentially.

Since it’s a necessary expense for your Amazon delivery business, you need to make sure that you have the best possible coverage for yourself and your vehicle, so that in case of an accident, you can get back to work as soon as possible.

If you’re a delivery driver in California and you’ve been injured in a traffic accident during your route, make sure to contact JT Legal Group for advice on how you can move forward.

6. Always record your delivery miles

At the end of the year, you’re going to need to file taxes, and the miles you drive when making deliveries for Amazon are tax deductible. So whether you use an app on your smartphone, or a pencil and paper, make sure you track all of your miles to get the most tax benefits when the new year rolls around.

7. Resolve issues as soon as possible

If you’re using the Amazon Flex app and are having issues with delivery tracking, or any number of other things, don’t put resolving it off. Waiting to fix a problem will only hamper your productivity, and hinder your ultimate success.

Conclusion

Working as an Amazon delivery driver is a challenging career, but if you follow these tips, it will become more rewarding than you ever thought possible.
