How to Have a Clean Restaurant: A Simple Checklist to Follow

Do you have a restaurant? Then you'll no doubt want to create a nice and clean environment for your customers. We've all been to those dirty, dingy restaurants where we've been afraid to even eat the food that is served to us because the conditions are so bad.

Would you or your friends and loved ones ever go back there unless you found out they'd cleaned up their act and changed owners? The answer is probably not.

A clean restaurant can lead to more customers and higher profits. But how to achieve a clean restaurant? Here's our restaurant kitchen cleaning checklist.

1. Hire Great Cleaners and Pay Them Well

This might sound obvious but hiring cleaners is incredibly important as is deep cleaning in the age of the Corona Virus.
Don't assume your staff can handle the cleaning duties on their own. They can make an effort but they will largely be busy with other tasks like customer service.

You need a specialist or professional cleaners who know to clean properly to ensure that your restaurant remains open.
Be sure to hire a strong team who can help you and pay them well rather than paying them a small amount of money. You could try hiring specialist restaurant cleaning services to aid you. This way they will be keen to go the extra mile for you.

2. Teach Your Servers To Clean

Your servers shouldn't be the only people responsible for cleaning, you should have a team of cleaners. But your servers can help keep your restaurant clean during opening hours by doing their bit.

Ensure that they regularly wipe down surfaces that they use and that they clear away any garbage that is left lying around that customers forget to throw away.

3. Encourage Your Customers to Clean

Customers have a duty to make sure the restaurant is clean as the servers and cleaners. There's no need to go overboard with this and shame customers who don't clear up after themselves.

But you can clearly indicate where the trash cans are and put up notices to ensure that patrons know they must clear up after themselves and treat the restaurant with respect.

4. Check the Bathrooms Regularly

The bathrooms must be inspected regularly, at least once an hour. Cleaning them should involve cleaning around the sinks, flushing the toilets and mopping the floor, if appropriate.

Put up a schedule with a different cleaner checking the toilets every hour and ticking off the schedule when they have finished. This is one of the most important restaurant checklists that there is.

Hire Great Staff For a Clean Restaurant

If you are looking to ensure that you have a clean restaurant then be sure to hire great staff to ensure that they work hard for you and don't slack off on the job. Also, ensure your servers and patrons understand that they have a responsibility to in ensuring the cleanliness of the restaurant.
