Great Strategies for Maximizing Your Profits

Making money online is the new financial frontier for most businesses. However, driving online engagement is often easier said than done. That’s why you should have a strategy in place so that you know what is working for your business and what needs to be changed.

Cross-sell and upsell

These two strategies work hand in hand to encourage customers to buy more products and services. Cross-selling is offering a complimentary product or service that would be of use along with the original purchase, whereas upsells are all about adding new features and benefits during the first sale (an example would be selling an annual plan as opposed to a one-time payment).

Both forms of selling can help increase revenue and lead to repeat purchases. They can also be used together: suggest your customer purchase both at half price.

It is also important that the products you recommend actually have a purpose and align with the original purchase. So even if these products are at a lower price point, they must provide real value to your customers.

Use targeted advertising

Using targeted ads and direct mail can help you reach an audience that will be more receptive to your product. Many people prefer custom emails rather than subjecting themselves to spammy, irrelevant ads online. If you have a smaller budget, it helps to use services like Facebook Custom Audiences or Lookalike Audience from Google AdWords, which target a similar kind of customer.

One way to use targeted advertising is to try and get your potential customers' contact information by giving away free products or testing something for them, with an included link that will act as their referral ID. If you are using Software as a Service (SaaS) systems, then you could consider using a robust SaaS content marketing strategy to better understand how to use your data.

Search engine optimization

This practice is often one of the most commonly used forms of marketing in any business, with many companies spending significant time and resources to better their search engine rankings.
For consumers using online sources like Google and Bing, where 70% of people start their product research on a search engine, ensuring that your brand or website appears higher up in the SERPs is crucial. Doing so will put you in front of more potential customers and increase the chances of recalling your business when making a purchase.

A great way to increase traffic is by using paid ads on search engines since it allows companies to quickly re-adjust bidding prices based on volume for better ROI.

Pay-per-click

This strategy is one of the most common online marketing strategies for businesses, especially those with a relatively smaller budget. PPC ads allow companies to pay for ad placements on search engine results pages (SERPs). An ad link displays text along with an image next to the organic result. Paid ads are often placed above or to the right of organic results, depending on search engines.

PPC ads are typically priced via a cost-per-click (CPC) model, which means that companies only pay when their ad is clicked from a SERP. As a result, the CPC bid price will vary widely from search engine to search engine and industry to industry.
