Are you still not archiving your social media memories?

Imagine this: It is 1990, you have just had the most amazing dish in your lifetime and want to let the world know about it but unfortunately, there is no medium available to facilitate your desire. Frustrating, isn’t it?
Fortunately, today there are dozens of online platforms that allow you to share almost anything with the world - right from pictures of your trips to your opinions on developments across the globe.

You just can’t afford to lose all your social media memories!

But what if someday, somebody cracks the password of your account and uses it for inappropriate purposes, ultimately leading to the loss of all the memories you created in the virtual world? (heartbreaking!) I am sure it’s going to be the worst sight for most of us.

To prevent you from such a crisis, major social media sites have features that enable you to download a zip file of all the content you have posted online. This is basically the procedure of archiving your social media memories.

Archived data can give you access to all the matter that you have posted online, even without the internet. So if tomorrow you are fed up with Facebook’s recent update, you don’t have to keep tolerating the torture just because you can’t afford to lose your memories!

So, let me quickly guide you on how to archive your memories on various social media platforms:

Facebook

It is one of the first, and most widely used social media platforms, so much so that it in the third quarter of 2019, it reported that almost 1.62 billion people use Facebook daily! And why not, with the extraordinary lineup of features its irresistible – here’s how you can archive on Facebook.

Simply log into your account and look for a downwards pointing arrow at the top right-hand corner of the page. Move your mouse over to the arrow and you will come across various options, select the ‘Settings’ option. Now under the left-hand side you will find a tab called ‘Your Facebook Information’, click on that. Post that, you must be able to spot a line that reads ‘Download a copy of your Facebook data.’ Click this line and a dialogue box will appear. In the dialogue box, select the ‘Start my archive’ button. After some time, you will get a mail on your registered mail address with a link to download the zip file.

Once the zip file is downloaded, you can open ‘index.htm’ in it to browse through your profile’s data with the bonus of having an ad-free experience. Once you browse through it, you will wish that the real-life Facebook looked like this!

Twitter

Twitter is an extremely popular microblogging site. It is generally used for sharing opinions on various topics and create a strong industry presence.

You can achieve all of your Twitter data in a few quick and simple steps.

Log into your account. At the top right-hand corner of the page, you will spot a gear-like symbol. Click on that symbol you will see a list of options > Look for the ‘Settings’ option and click on it > Under settings, go to the ‘content’ > Under content, click on ‘Request Archive.’ And the process will start immediately. Again, you will receive a mail on your registered mail account with a link to download the zip file.

Google

Anyone who uses the internet must know about Google. It is the world’s most popular and widely used search engine. Over the years, it has expanded its wings to various media platform services like YouTube, Gmail, Blogger, etc. If you use all or any of these services extensively, here’s how you can archive your data on Google:

Sign in to your Google account and go to their data archiving page. You will come across various options. Select the ‘Create Archive’ option and then pick the services whose data you want to back up. Once this is done, you will get a mail on your account with the link to download the zip file containing all your data,

It’s getting overwhelming?

Your social media profiles are constantly being updated. You post something new every day. However hard you try, it is impossible to archive your data every day. So how do you keep up with the pace? Well, there are archiving tools available online like Stillio that can save you from the mess. It automatically archives all your profile data by generating automated screenshots at regular intervals. You just need to invest only a few minutes to set up the software and Stillio will take up from there.
