A History Of SEO – Catching Up With The Trends In 2018

A History Of SEO – Catching Up With The Trends In 2018

Often, businesses will feel like they are constantly trying to play catch up when it comes to the latest SEO strategies. You’ll have one person telling you to do this while another person is telling you to do that, and then by the time that you implement suggestions there is a new trend to start to look into.

The first signs of life of SEO came about between 1991 and 2002, as it was between these years that the major search engines that we know today came into existence, such as Yahoo and Google.

In the 90s, search engines tended to just match words from user queries, meaning that the quality of the information provided was not that great, with many companies turning to keyword stuffing in order to rank high.

In one word, in this primitive world of search engine optimization pretty much anything was passable.

It wasn’t until 2010 that this began to change, when many updates were introduced to penalize backlinking and keyword stuffing.

Between 2006 and 2009, the use of content marketing was introduced, and by 2010, a massive change in SEO took place that forced brands to earn their rankings through top quality content.

Today, there seems to be a strong focus on local and mobile SEO. Brands that don’t have this or don’t have a responsive design, tend to lose their search visibility in Google.

The future of SEO is volatile, therefore, you have to be continually on the ball when it comes to new updates and trends in the field.

Thankfully, the team behind seotribunal.comhas researched quite a bit about what we should be expecting for the rest of this year when it comes to SEO.

For example, we can see that 39% of all global ecommerce traffic comes from searches, proving how important they are.

Even more general is the fact that 93% of online experiences will begin with a search engine, so brands need to be doing their best to stay on top of the game.

You can also find out from the infographic some interesting facts about the future of SEO, such as that 50% of all online searches with be voice searches by 2020, and that Google is going to favor mobile friendly websites.
Check it out to learn more useful facts.
