By: Christina Matthew is a marketing executive at Groovy Essays

Are you a marketer? If yes, then it’s your time to celebrate!

People at large have not only accepted mobile advertisements, but they are very much interested in them.
As we all know that brands are now investing into mobile advertising, so, being a marketer, you also need to polish skills in this genre.

Have you gone through the report, published by an advertising firm xAd and Telmetrics, a call analytics firm?
Well, it says that around 50% of mobile shoppers consider mobile advertisements informative and only 70% notice them.
This makes it quite obvious that mobile advertising should be an important part of your marketing campaign plans.

Another survey by Thrive Analytics, Local Search Report 2015 reveals that:
You should also go through a study by Ovum’s 2015, which says that 14% of marketers expect that their spending on mobile ad will increase more than 50% in the coming years and 57% anticipate that it will increase below 50%.
But, do you know exactly what constitutes to the creation of effective mobile ads?

Well, whether you have just stepped into mobile advertising or willing to enhance your current strategy making skills, do consider the following tips to create the most interesting ones:

1. Know your Target Audience

Knowing your target audience, should be your first step towards effective mobile ad creation.
If you are developing a mobile ad campaign, you need to know your potential customers and also, be aware of their habit of using Smartphone’s.

Have a look at the xAD/Telemetrics Mobile Path to Purchase report, which states that half of the customers use their Smartphone’s before making a purchase, while around 25% use their Smartphone throughout their whole experience.
If your potential customers use their mobiles for finding certain products or services, then you should either go for paid search results or opt for native ads.

If your target potential customers use tablet to know about your brand, then banner ads would be a perfect option.
Many people use their mobile devices to:

  • Compare prices
  • Read reviews
  • Find directions to a local store
  • Find coupons or promotions
  • Call a store for more info
  • Identify a location near them

Once you know your target customers habit of using mobile devices, it will definitely lead you to create the best mobile ad strategy.

2. Use Diverse Ad Formats

Do you think all ad formats are ideal for all target audiences?
No matter what you think, but it is recommended to choose different ad formats in mobile advertising.
If you know your target audience, then there is no difficulty in deciding which ad format to choose.
Think from user’s perspective, each user’s preference is different. So, you need to create an optimized mix of videos, banners, and other tailored options.

The diverse mobile ad formats are not restricted to a particular medium. You can initiate mobile advertisements on social media, create SMS ads, in-app ads or banner ads and etc.

For example, if your target audience is an avid mobile game player, then you can create an in-game mobile ad to connect him/her to your brand.

However, social media mobile ads are preferred by top marketers, as it generates desired results.
Add variety in your mobile advertisements, so that every user with a different mindset can be engaged. Clicks by users will help you determine effectiveness of your ad.

3. Make Responsive and Mobile Friendly Ads

Do you know that users automatically click on mobile ads?

Yes, because users believe to either get rewarded or to get their desired information.

You need to thus, ensure that you create interactive mobile ads to maximize your user or target audience’s engagement.
I would suggest as a user that navigation should be spontaneous!

Your call to actions could be sign up for newsletter, shop now, share your link, subscribe to SMS alerts and etc.

Being a user, I would never like to fill up lengthy sign up forms or browse through numerous screens to buy a cup. So, you need to avoid such call to action plans that require lengthy processes.

Keep your call to actions simple.
Here is an example of Taco Bell’s call to action ad:

4. Focus on your Goal

Have you ever lost sight of your goal, when planning a marketing campaign?
Well, you should always keep track of your goals and consider it significantly when designing a mobile ad strategy.
Do you know about the top KPIs that are essential for mobile ad campaigns? If no, then read on further and them to your knowledge bank:
  • Sales
  • Searches
  • Click-throughs
  • Social media shares and likes
  • Texts or Email sent

5. Social Media Contests

Have you heard about the Pew Research on social media use? Let me tell you that this research reveals that 74% of online people are adults, who use social channels, among which 40% access them through Smartphone’s.

Hence, connecting your brand to the end users via social channels is ideal to engage target audience.

You can create a marketing strategy with a mobile friendly call to action on the social platforms.

Get your customers involved in your marketing campaign by asking them to share your ad content with their friends and family.

Well, I will only share ad content if I shall be rewarded for that, else I will not bother to do so.
Offer your customers or users perks of sharing your ad.

You can reward them by offering discount on your product or services, coupons, entry to a contest and various other advantages of sharing your ad.

Also, if I shall be offered to be featured as Fan #1 on your Facebook page, I shall surely do that. Similarly, many users like me will share your content for this perk. However, free gifts are always welcomed.

Here is an example of Dove’s contest, which has been significant in creating awareness of the brand.

Create mobile advertisement strategies that are easily measureable at the end. Your boss will for sure need to know that what results have been generated and was the strategy effective enough.

As a matter of fact, you should have also witnessed that mobile ad campaigns are never ending. It’s a continuous process to attract new customers, retain existing and showcase your brand’s presence.

Hope the above discussed tips prove essential for your future mobile ad campaigns.
