Is Your Retail Website Being Commoditized In Search?
Probably YES And Here Is Why.
Gone are the days when your website is your primary discovery search tool, why, because social media is fast becoming the primary search tool for virtually everything; product recommendations, unique furniture styles and functions, how to do things, where to go, and even apartment tours.
People do not search for basic items like “furniture or furniture stores near me” as they used to. Now they search for unique items with function, small space furniture, and other specific search needs.
Social media has quickly become the sales funnel path that your potential customers and followers utilize, from discovering your product on social media to making a purchase.

Social media has quickly become the sales funnel path that your potential customers and followers utilize, from discovering your product on social media to making a purchase.
Consider a TikTok video I saw from a Dublin furniture store showing a sectional with multiple unique functions.
It was 12 seconds long and it has 482,000 likes and over 2,000 conversations.

The video was done by an in-house salesperson. I wonder how many people bought that product, or even better, visited the store’s website. There is no way a picture(s), or their furniture URL could have shown these unique attributes and the ease of using them as visually as this. And it was on a social media platform, get it now?

Websites are quickly becoming more obsolete as a stand-alone destination.
They are merely a shopping tool, not a browsing tool. Our target markets are engaging with content on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, and even Reddit.

In 2023, U.S. e-commerce represented 22.0% of total retail sales, according to Digital Commerce 360 analysis of U.S. Department of Commerce data. That compares with 21.2% penetration in 2022.

Now let's look at Social Media's Sales Growth. Before we do, here are some interesting statistics to digest.
Customers
- 60% of business-to-consumer (B2C) brands get their customers through social media. 77% of businesses use social media to reach customers, and 41% of small businesses rely on it as a revenue driver.
- 76% of social media users have purchased something they saw on social media
While the purchase pathway varies—with 11% buying immediately, 44% deferring online purchases for later, and 21% opting to buy in-store—the 76% of users who have bought a product based on a brand’s social media post reflects how social media has changed the face of retail.

It's Pedestrian at best. It has basic content that manufacturers push out to ALL their retailers....NOTHING unique, NO SHORT VIDEOS, NO BLOGS, just BASCIC everything
